Feeling stuck, misunderstood, or out of place?
As if you always have to dim your light to fit into a mold that was never meant for you?
Have you ever felt like you’re shrinking to fit into a world that’s too small for your dreams and experiences?
Like you’re too curious, too bold, or too different for where you are.
I’ve been there. Growing up in a small town in France, I felt like a royal eagle confined in a cage, surrounded by people who couldn’t grasp my unique experiences, clipping my wings before I could soar.
After coming back from Spain where I lived with my father for 6 months at 16, my friends thought I was making things up or trying to act as if I was better than them.
Over time, that small-minded environment tried to shrink me, affecting my mental well-being and leading me to withdraw from social engagement.
It made me downplay my international experiences, leaving me to question if I was the problem.
Was I simply too much?
It became crystal clear when I moved abroad a year later. It was never me, It was them!
My journey from feeling confined in a small town to experiencing the world abroad highlighted a crucial truth: sometimes the environment you’re in isn’t designed for your growth.
Moving abroad is truly transformative. It broadens your perspective, allowing you to shed limiting beliefs and unlock mental barriers that hold you back.
More than a move, immersing yourself in new cultures fuels self-discovery and personal growth, giving you a deeper understanding of yourself and the world.
It allows you to leave behind the old version of yourself, confined by small-town thinking.
This isn’t just about seeing new places… It’s about embracing a life full of vibrant possibilities without limits.
It’s about finding your ever-evolving identity.
You’ll meet new people, build lasting connections, and experience an adventure that reshapes your future.
This is your chance to leave behind old constraints and step into a vibrant, impactful life.
I’ll guide you through the first steps to embrace this adventure and set yourself free from the suffocating limitations of a small-minded environment.
I’ll never forget my leap across the Atlantic to Miami at 21.
I had always dreamed of living in America like my father, and I arrived in South Beach with just $600 in my pocket, confident I would find work super fast.
But I wasn’t ready for the culture shock or how much I would need to adapt.
Though I had left my small town long before, its mindset lingered.
I questioned whether I could fit in, overwhelmed by the American drive to excel in everything.. I had no choice but to step out of my comfort zone.
It was definitely challenging me to let my authentic self out of its shell.
Every day, I applied for jobs, but all I got were empty promises.
Self-doubt crept in, a stark reminder that you’re on your own, whether in your hometown or a foreign land.
It wore me down, making me question if this was just a naive dream.
Then, just when I was at my lowest, I landed my first job at a wine bar, “Les Passions De La Vie” owned by a retired American businessman living his dream of running a wine bar with a cigar lounge.
That wasn’t just a paycheck. It was proof that I could thrive and win in this new world.
That experience taught me something big: the limits I thought were real were just in my head, leftovers from that small-town mindset.
When you’re in it, survival instinct kicks in, and you’ll learn faster than you ever thought possible.
This is why I believe living abroad isn’t just a change in location; it’s a breakthrough of mental and emotional barriers.
It’s a vibrant transformation, shedding the old You to embrace new ways of thriving.
Trust me, it’s a journey worth taking, and it’s about so much more than just geography.
You know, the more I reflect on my journey to Miami, the more I realize how familiar it might sound to you.
I get it. Living in a small town can feel suffocating under the weight of close-minded mentalities. The pressure to fit in, the fear of judgment, the whispers when you dare to dream bigger.
It’s easier for people to tear you down than to admit there’s a bigger world out there. They don’t get it.
I’ve been there. Feeling like you don’t quite belong, even in a place you’ve called home your whole life.
And God forbid something happens in your family like a tragedy, a loss… then you’re the talk of the town.
Every whisper and sideways glance feels like the world is watching, judging, turning your grief into their entertainment.
There’s this unspoken rule in small towns: don’t outgrow the box you’ve been put in.
When you do, they say you’re acting “better than everyone else,” when really, you just want more for yourself.
You want to live a life where your light doesn’t have to dim just to make others comfortable.
You’ve probably felt that sting of being misunderstood, haven’t you?
Trying to share your experiences, your vision, and having people look at you like you’re coming from another planet.
The constant invalidation of your dreams is draining.
They don’t get it, so they dismiss you.
And that ambition? It’s not wrong. Not even close. The problem isn’t you at all—it’s the stifling environment that’s holding you back.
That small-town mentality that tells you to stay where you are, to play small, to shrink yourself to fit into the box they’ve built for you.
You deserve to break free, to shed those expectations and live where you are seen, understood, and valued for who you truly are.
That’s why I’m such a huge advocate for moving abroad. It’s about finding a place where your soul can grow.
It’s about breaking free from those small-town limitations and embracing a world that’s bigger than you ever imagined.
The world you know is only as small as the people around you.
Imagine if every ‘no’ you’ve heard could turn into a ‘yes’ simply by stepping into a new country.
One that embraces your curiosity, not limits it.
Step into the unknown with faith that you’re worthy of more than you’ve ever been told.
Trust me, that freedom is priceless, and it’s waiting for you.
Paulo Coelho said it best in his book, The alchemist: “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Alright, let me break it down for you.
You know how we always talk about wanting more out of life, right?
Like, more clarity, more purpose, more excitement?
That’s what living abroad does for you. And in ways you can’t even imagine.
It gives you that freedom to be unapologetically you.
It broadens your perspective like nothing else. You start to see how big the world really is and how small your problems can seem in the grand scheme of things.
You realize that the way you grew up thinking about certain issues, your “norms,” aren’t the only way to see the world.
I’m talking about shedding the limiting beliefs that have been holding you back for so long.
The ones that whisper in your ears: “Stay in your comfort zone, play small, no need to rock the boat.”
Your mindset is shifting when you immerse yourself in a different culture.
You start to question things you never thought twice about before. It forces you to adapt and grow.
Navigating a new language and embracing unfamiliar cultural norms push you out of your comfort zone.
What you learned growing up as social norms might be seen differently in a new country. Like how cows are food in France but sacred in India.
You have to peel back the layers of who you thought you were to reveal something deeper, something more authentic.
And here’s the real magic: the more you push past your own mental barriers, the more you expand your horizons.
It’s like the invisible walls you built up for yourself start to crumble, one by one.
You learn to trust yourself more, because you’ve literally placed yourself in situations where you have no choice but to figure it out.
It’s empowering beyond belief.
This kind of personal growth is something that stays with you for life.
Another massive benefit? The people you meet.
Living abroad opens up your social and professional networks in ways you wouldn’t expect.
You’ll meet people from all walks of life who have different perspectives. They definitely will challenge and expand your mind.
Out of nowhere, the thoughts of your hometown or your country are staying in the background.
You’re thinking global, as a citizen of the world.
This expanded network isn’t only about opportunities, it’s about gaining a deeper appreciation for the web of humanity.
These vibrant connections are invaluable.
Take, for example, Kwame Alexander’s journey from a small town in Virginia to Paris exemplifies this transformation.
As an acclaimed poet, he faced limitations in his small-town environment.
Moving to Paris opened new cultural and professional opportunities, allowing him to expand his creative vision and achieve significant personal growth.
Think about it this way.
Living abroad is the most impactful education the world can offer: the authentic school of life.
It teaches you lessons you could never learn from a book or in a classroom.
Every new experience abroad, every challenge you face, every hurdle you jump is part of shaping the exceptional leader of your life you’re meant to become.
And let’s be real, these are the kinds of experiences that give you the stories worth telling for a lifetime.
The bold adventures, the unique experiences, the unforgettable moments.
It’s the rollercoaster ride of a lifetime.
So, what’s holding you back from packing your suitcase and testing your luck?
What is preventing you from stepping into the vibrant version of yourself? One that isn’t constrained by the limits of the environment you’re used to.
Living abroad is your chance to explore all the possibilities it offers. You’ll grow in ways you never imagined, and trust me, you will not regret a single moment.
The world is so much bigger than we’re led to believe.
It’s time for you to take a leap of faith and start imagining yourself living the life of your dreams.
Whether it’s in the bustling streets of Bangkok or on the paradise island of Mauritius.

Maybe your circumstances just aren’t lining up right now. I get it.
But here’s the thing: there’s another way to escape your stifling environment all from the comfort of your home.
The internet is an exceptional tool for growth and ‘jailbreak,’ empowering you to take control of your mindset and prepare for future travel opportunities. Here’s how you can get started:
1. Map out your bold adventure
Challenge yourself this week, pick three countries you’d love to live in.
Think about why you’re attracted to these places.
Is it the culture? The weather? The lifestyle?
2. Immerse yourself in those places
Watch lots of documentaries, read local blogs, or follow people on social media who live there.
Get a feel for what living in these countries is really like.
How do people spend their days? What are their biggest challenges and joys?
3. Envision yourself in that world
Close your eyes and imagine the warmth of the sun as you stroll through your dream destination.
This is your life unfolding.
Use visualization techniques to see yourself thriving in this new place.
4. Reflect on what’s stopping you
What is currently holding you back from flying away?
Is it financial? Logistical? Personal?
Reflect on these barriers and start brainstorming ways to overcome them.
5. Set your intention
Define a clear statement about your desired destination and experience.
Write it down. You’re not just dreaming. You’re planning.
Set a realistic time frame to achieve this impactful outcome.
6. Take daily action
What small steps can you take every day to prepare yourself?
Maybe it’s learning the local language, or saving money.
Every single action brings you closer to your vibrant dream.
7. Affirm your vision
Write down positive affirmations about your upcoming adventure and read them aloud daily.
Always remind yourself that this dream is bound to become a reality.
You are bound to become that exceptional person living abroad. A global citizen.
Remember, moving abroad is not just about flying to a new destination.
It’s about breaking free from limitations, embracing unfolding possibilities of the unknown, and letting your wings soar beyond what you ever imagined.
Never stop believing that your vibrant life is within reach.
Start planning your adventure today, whether it’s researching your dream destinations or setting your goals.
